We were impressed with the hotel. It had a large bar area plenty of seating. The entertainment was good with mini disco for kids also bingo and shows(bird show karaoke singers etc)as we went early october we never needed the ceiling fans on at night but i think they would have been too noisy anyway. One of the yellow shirts (hotel staff who i knew from home!) said in the height of summer you would not be able to get a sunbed for love nor money! This was the 2nd year running that we have been to the balaerics(majorca last year) in october and once again the weather has been lovely very hot most days. I'm afraid the food let the place down very dodgy breakfasts, no sausages or bacon, on the same day either one or the other the evening meals were even worse. No choice for our 3 year old apart from cold chips never any choice of veg, you had to buy your own drinks, i think that's why the hotel is only a 2 star which is a shame as it should easily be a 3 star. The hotel itself is in a good position as you are only a short walk from all the shops bars beach etc.. and right next to Figeretas the other way. The kids clubs are great for the kids 2 hours morning and evening if you wanted! All in all quite a good week was had by all (just a shame about the restaurant!).

The hotel was well run. The food although on a buffet type menu was very good. You must try the mushrooms in garlic and white wine vinegar for breakfast. The evening meal would have been better if it had been served until 9:30 or so. You must visit Manolo's bar on the end of the beach next to the ferry terminal whether you are half board or not! All in al a great last minute holiday for two PS. they sunbathe with no clothes on Formentera!

Try the Big Ben pub for a fun night out, free drinks when you see the tout.
The fan in the room was really noisy & ended up with th window open all night, hence the mossi bites all over my arms & legs!!
Food was Ok but not much fun if you're a veggi....

My/Our Holiday Opinion:
This was my first holiday abroad in ten years and after being ill the last time was quite worried about this new adventure.
I needn't have worried this was the best holiday I have ever had. We arrived late at night and were greeted with polite staff (even at 12.00 midnight). The room was excellent and had a ceiling fan whihc was noisy but necessary. The pool was fantastic but if you want a sunbed in a good location then get up early! The beach is 5 minutes walk away and was never crowded. The town is a pleasent walk in the evenings. Having stayed in the hotel most of the day by the pool we ventured out at night. The food was plentyful and excellent.Always refreshed and piping hot.
There was plenty of choise and was never repetative during our 10 day stay. The kids club was good although having different aged children prooved a problem as they weren't allowed in the same club. So one went in the mornings and one went in the afternoon! Hotel was clean and little cafe was good for lunch time eating.
I will certainly be back again.

Spent 10 days at this hotel and I have to say we all realy enjoyed our stay. Although official rating is 2 ** definatly deserves 3***. Our rooms were basic and a bit on the small side but were spotlessly clean. Food was quite enjoyable and menu was varied, vegetarians were well catered for with plenty of salads, pasta dishes etc. Word of warning for couples though wanting a quiet relaxing holiday, the place is litrally teeming with noisey kids and just as noisey parents. Would recommend this hotel to families wanting a fun and lively holiday.

This hotel is situated approximately 100 metres from the shops bars and restaurants away from the noise. There is a good sized reception area and tv room and lounge and bar area with a hairdresser and its own shop. Pool tables and minigolf. We went half board and did not enjoy meals. Have been to many H/B and A/I properties before and this was the worst for choice unless you really love salads. I was pleased that i did not have my children with me as they did not really have a childrens menu. The pool area was ok but was always too busy so went to the beach everyday. The beach is just across the road which is not too bad but the beach does get better further down. The central area of beach is mainly for young singles or couples where you will find it very busy during july and august with loud music and dancefloors on beach. There are quite a few shops and bars all about the same as you would find in the other balaerics and mainland spain.
There was daytime activities and kids clubs. The evening entertainment was quite good have had worse. They had bingo magic show Mr mare nostrum which included the full monty!! Karaoke a parrot show they had minidisco for kids every night. The family rooms may have been better but our room was very basic and small with no view at all with a noisy fan which was a godsend was very clean though which is the main thing and cleaner came every day. Ideal holiday for a family with young children that want something basic butI would not choose the option for half board.

Have just returned from our 3rd stay in this hotel, Great choice of food at each meal as my daughter never got up in the morning i was allowed to take her breakfast up to her. The rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels. Found the entertainment near enough the same as when we went before in 1997 and 1999, but the group in charge were very good bingo every night. Lots of room around the pool but if you want a sun bed you must be prepared to get up early to put your towels on them, we were up most days at 7.15. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and always there to help if needed. The beach is just across the road do be careful of the traffic, and the bars on the beach its self were ripping people off while we were there adding items to your bill that you had not had, and bull bar was watering down the drinks. 2 very nice bars opposite the hotel worth walking back to. Take the water taxi in to ibiza at least once the kids will love it. but it will cost you only 5EUROS in a taxi. Our reps were always around and did not hound you to buy trips of them. All in All a very good holiday.

Holiday Review:
We are just back from the Mare Nostrum which is the second time we have stayed there. Since 2000 the rooms have been refurbished and everything is new and of a high quality. Carpets now adorn the corridors and everything is in light wood.
The facilities are clean and well kept. The restaurant is excellent and Ramon the head waiter is very organised. You keep your table for the whole of your holiday which we prefer. The food is very good although a bit repetitive and the breakfasts are swimming in garlic.
The evening entertainment is a bit predictable with several transvestite shows and lots of miming acts which we do not like.
The pool gets a bit crowded but the beach is only 50 yards away and is quieter.
The only down side to the holiday was that for 3 consecutive days the pool was closed mid afternoon due to what I presume was the same child using it as a toilet
The position of the hotel is good as you can go one way the Playa d'en Bossa or the other to Figeuritas. Ibiza town is a 5 euro taxi ride but well worth it
This hotel is only 2 star but we have stayed at supposedly better hotels and feel this hotel is far in excess of its 2 stars
Only the lack of air conditioning lets it down There are ceiling fans in the rooms but they are noisy and can keep you awake at night
Fantastic holiday made better by August temperatures in June. The thermometer in Ibiza town showed 35 degs at 9 pm last week

Hotel Mare Nostrum was brilliant! My daughter of 3 years old really enjoyed the entertainment, mini disco every night and reps there to entertain the kids. Plenty of entertainment every night we had no need to leave the hotel which was just as well as the resort did not have much to offer. Yes, it had bars with bouncy castles, mini golf, kiddy rides etc, but nothing in the way of entertainment. Resort was fairly average, just your average tourist shops, not a great range of eating places, but we were half board anyway. Food was good. Breakfasts not great, sloppy scrambled eggs etc, but dinnners good. One thing we missed on this holiday was a fridge in the room so spent a fortune buying drinks all day long. Hotel was excellent, very clean, rooms cleaned and towels changed every day. Pool was great, also kids playground and tennis courts, table tennis, pool tables etc, plenty to keep the kids amused. An all round great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to families with young children.

Hotel Mare Nostrum was only a short walk from the beach. Very close to shops and bars.
Virtually next door was a bar which catered for children, they had a crazy golf course and power bikes, inflatables and trampolines.
The Bull bar was very good with foam partys and your chance to try and ride a mechanical bull, drinks very cheap.
Water park is in Playa De Bossa, and is a good day out.
We were half board and the food was very good, plenty to choose from.
The pool was a very nice size with the childrens pool separate. The entertainment was excellent and 10 days realy was not enough.
Mare Nostrim was a lovely Hotel and we can not fault it in any way, would definetly reccommend it to anyone.

• Noord en Oost
Het noorden en het oosten is het rustigere gedeelte van Mallorca. Hier kan u genieten van de prachtige landschappen met zijn vele inhammen, kreekjes en zandstranden. Het is de ideale regio om wandelingen of excursies te maken.

Het dorpje Banyalbufar is een aanrader voor wie het groene en typische Mallorca wenst te ontdekken, zie p. 229.
¨ VAKANTIEPLAATSEN
• PUERTO DE SOLLER
Kleine, levendige badplaats aan de westkust van Mallorca, aan een baai met aan weerszijde hiervan een vuurtoren. Puerto de Soller wordt veel bezocht door dagjesmensen. Luchthaven - Puerto de Soller: 47 km (via de tunnel: 40 km)
• BANYALBUFAR
Typisch rustig plaatsje aan de westelijke rotskust met kronkelende straatjes voor de alternatieve vakantieganger die het massatoerisme wil ontvluchten. Landschap met mooie panorama’s, tuinbouwterrassen en schitterende cala’s in de omgeving. Luchthaven - Banyalbufar: 30 km
• PALMA NOVA / SON CALIU
Palma Nova is een groot vakantieoord dat o.a. opgevrolijkt wordt door kleine plantsoenen en particuliere villa’s. Het is bijna helemaal met de naburige badplaats Magaluf vergroeid en biedt tal van uitgaansmogelijkheden. Ook ideaal voor strandliefhebbers. Son Caliu is een appartementenwijk aan de rand van Palma Nova. Luchthaven - Palma Nova: 27 km
• CAMP DE MAR
Camp de Mar is een klein badplaatsje aan de zuidwestkust van het eiland Mallorca. Het wordt gekenmerkt door een kleine baai die omringd wordt door heuvels met pijnbomen en steil uit zee oprijzende rotsen. U vindt er geen centrum maar wel enkele souvenirwinkeltjes en een minimarkt. Het is een rustige plaats, de meeste activiteit is er terug te vinden op het Camp de Mar-strand. Rond dit strand vindt u enkele gezelige restaurantjes en cafetaria's met terras. Hotel Riu Camp de Mar grenst aan dit strand. Aan de andere zijde van het hotel ligt het 18-holes gofterrein van Andratx. Luchthaven-Camp de Mar: 36 km
• ST. PONSA / PAGUERA
Aangenaam gelegen badplaatsen, aan een mooie baai met breed, geleidelijk aflopend zandstrand, goed beschut tegen koelere winden. In een groene omgeving, waar de pijnbossen tot aan de zee lopen. Er heerst een bruisende vakantiesfeer! Luchthaven - St. Ponsa: 27 km / Paguera: 32 km
• MAGALUF
Een gezellig en geanimeerde badplaats op 15 km van de hoofdstad. De 2 boogvormige stranden zijn zachtglooiend. Magaluf biedt alle mogelijkheden voor sport en amusement. Hier bevindt zich ook het casino van Mallorca en het Aquapark. Luchthaven - Magaluf: 24 km
• CALA VINAS
Cala Vińas is gelegen aan een smalle baai op amper 20 min. te voet van Magalluf via een heuvelachtige weg. Luchthaven - Cala Vińas: 26 km

• COLONIA DE SANT JORDI
Vlakke en rustige badplaats aan de zuidoostkust van Mallorca met een jachthaventje. Onze hotels liggen op 5 min. wandelafstand van het prachtige ‘Es Trenc’-strand en natuurgebied. Er is ook een naturistenstrand. Lange zandstranden strekken zich uit die gemakkelijk langs begaanbare wandelpaden te bereiken zijn. Veel begroeiing achter deze fraaie stranden. • CA’N PASTILLA / PLAYA DE PALMA / ARENAL / CALA BLAVA / CABO BLANCO
Tussen Ca’n Pastilla en Arenal ligt een bekend strand, betrekkelijk smal doch geleidelijk aflopend in zee, een gezellige zandstrook van 6 km lang met alle voorzieningen (ligzetels, parasols, kleedcabines en alle watersportfaciliteiten).
Ca’n Pastilla is een niet al te grote badplaats. Playa de Palma heeft zich de laatste jaren uitgebouwd tot een vakantieplaats met internationale sfeer. Het is er gezellig en goed geschikt voor jongeren en families. Er zijn diverse uitgaansmogelijkheden, winkeltjes en restaurantjes.
Arenal is één van de drukste plaatsen van het eiland en biedt alles om de dag aangenaam door te brengen: terrasjes, bars, restaurantjes, discotheken. Dankzij haar vele uitgaansmogelijkheden is Arenal ideaal geschikt voor jongeren. Op respectievelijk 6,5 km en11 km van Arenal bevinden zich de rustige en groene oorden Cala Blava en Cabo Blanco, waar vooral de kalmte en de natuur heersen.

Noord en Oost
• ALCUDIA
De stad Alcudia betekent eigenlijk ‘stad op de heuvel’ en is een historisch belangrijke plaats met als pronkstuk de enorme middeleeuwse stadsmuren. Puerto Alcudia daarentegen is een levendige haven die zich de afgelopen jaren tot zomervakantieplaats heeft ontwikkeld, geschikt vanwege het kilometerslange fijne en vlakke zandstrand. Ideaal voor een familieverblijf. Luchthaven - Alcudia: 61 km
• CA’N PICAFORT
Een van de jongste vakantieoorden van Mallorca in het noordoosten van het eiland. Het heerlijk lang, maar niet zo breed zandstrand strekt zich ver uit en is ideaal voor strandwandelingen. Langs de promenade liggen talrijke kleine bars. Luchthaven - Ca’n Picafort: 60 km
• SA COMA
Een gezellige kuststrook met recente vakantieplaatsen en heerlijke stranden. Sa Coma is een badplaats met moderne accommodaties in een sfeervolle omgeving. Er is een 2,5 km breed zandstrand dat langzaam in zee afloopt. Aan de wandeldijk liggen gezellige snackbars en terrasjes. Luchthaven - Sa Coma: ± 60 km
• CALAS DE MALLORCA
Aan de noordoostkust van Mallorca zijn talloze inhammen, kreekjes en zandstranden. Hier vindt u een aantal rustige urbanisaties, gelegen in een mooie natuur. Luchthaven - Calas de Mallorca: 58 km
• PORTO COLOM / CALA MARSAL
Een eenvoudig en rustig vissershaventje gelegen aan een uitgestrekte baai. Gezellig wandelen langs de kaaimuur met hier en daar typische visrestaurantjes. Vlakbij het havenplaatsje Porto Colom ligt een mooie baai met het Cala Marsal-strand. Ideaal voor families. Luchthaven - Porto Colom / Cala Marsal: ± 60 km
• CALA D’OR
Eén van de mooie cala’s aan de oostkust. Een toeristische, verzorgde badplaats met vele kleine baaitjes en zandstrandjes. Heel wat mogelijkheden voor watersporten, talrijke restaurants, terrasjes, disco’s,... Het centrum is autovrij en het is er heerlijk winkelen of gezellig buiten tafelen. • GROTTEN VAN DRACH - MANACOR
Deze excursie gaat naar de alom gekende Grotten van Drach, met een halte in Manacor, het wereldcentrum van de cultuurparels, middagpauze in Puerto Cristo, idyllisch havenstadje aan de Oostkust.
• EILANDRONDRIT
Een uitstap met de bus, het treintje en de boot. Bezoek aan La Calobra en Torrent de Pareis. Verder door de sinaasappelvallei tot in Puerto de Soller, om dan terug te keren langs de Puig Mayor, de hoogste berg van Mallorca.
• PALMA DE MALLORCA
Hoofdstad van het eiland. Een indrukwekkende oude stad, zeker de parel van het Middellandse-Zeegebied. Winkels van wereldformaat, kunstgalerijen, typische bars en restaurants, historische bezienswaardigheden en de prachtige gotische kathedraal uit de 13e eeuw.
